When Pamela was arrested, it was her first brush with the law.

She was caught stealing money at work to pay her father’s medical bills. Like most women who are imprisoned in Zimbabwe, it was financial insecurity that pushed her to commit the crime.

Describing how she felt after being imprisoned, “You feel like you've lost your dignity. I felt that I'd really lost it all. I was no longer human, no longer a part of anything. That's how bad it was for me mentally.

For five long years after her release, Pamela begged her probation officer for support, asking if there were any organisations to help her get back on her feet. Eventually, the Female Prisoners Support Trust (FEMPRIST) was formed and Pamela was told to get in contact.

270 compassionate supporters have already raised £34,038 to our Big Give challenge for FEMPRIST and women prisoners in Zimbabwe. But we're still £18,962 short with 3 days left. Your gift today will be doubled - helping more women like Pamela to have a second chance.

I’ll chip in £25 - and have it doubled to £50!
I’ll chip in £50 - and have it doubled to £100!
I’ll chip in £75 - and have it doubled to £150!
I’ll chip in a different amount - and have it doubled!
The incredible work of the Female Prisoners Support Trust (FEMPRIST)

FEMPRIST supports women leaving prison by offering counselling, peer support, and job training to help them earn an income and rebuild their lives. They also train prison staff to treat women fairly, push for laws that make prison more humane, and work with communities to reduce stigma and support reintegration.

When you click on the links in this email and donate, your entire donation goes directly to support this work. And, as whatever you give will be doubled, you’ll be doing twice the good.

But the work this money is earmarked for just won’t happen unless we raise it. We’re not just saying that: it’s the simple truth.

We all know that life is not an equal playing field. There are so many reasons a woman’s life can take a downfall. Can you join us and everyone who’s already donated in supporting women to get back on their feet after prison?

FEMPRIST understand that employment skills are a crucial element of breaking the cycle of reoffending and ensuring the cycle of imprisonment isn’t passed down through generations. That is why skills training is one of the programmes they carry out – but their ambitions are limitless.

FEMPRIST need us to hit this fundraising target so they can expand their efforts to reach more ex-prisoners like Pamela struggling to get on the right path.

John, donate today. You only have 3 days to have your gift doubled as part of the Big Give. It only takes a minute.

“My vision for myself is to see our homestead just a field of green … earning a living from my own hard work. It pays to work hard, I promise.” – Pamela.
