Contrary to a common myth, ostriches do not stick their heads in the sand when confronted by a threat.
Donald Trump, on the other hand, seems to believe that if he can’t see the case numbers and body counts, people aren’t getting sick and dying from the coronavirus.
- Trump has repeatedly insisted that if we did fewer tests we would have fewer cases. As if testing — not the coronavirus — is what’s killing people!
- For example, on Tuesday, in the Rose Garden, Trump said this (really): “If we did half the testing we would have half the cases.”
- The Trump gang has also ordered hospitals to stop reporting data on their capacity for handling COVID-19 patients to the CDC.
- Instead, hospitals are now required to report that critical information to the Department of Health and Human Services, which is run by a former Big Pharma lobbyist installed by Trump himself.
- Public health experts, along with everyday Americans, are rightly concerned about what this might mean for transparency around the data needed to manage the crisis.
- All of this while the Trump Pandemic just gets worse and worse, with well over 70,000 new cases reported yesterday — breaking the previous record from just two days prior.
Here’s how surreal our lives have become in the Trump era:
We would all be better off if an actual ostrich were president of the United States instead of Donald Trump.
Tell the Department of Health and Human Services:
We the people demand accurate, daily updates on the data you’re getting from hospitals about their capacity to handle COVID-19 patients. Make this vital information available to the public online, for any and all to see.
Add your name.
Thanks for taking action.
Stay safe.
