John, as we wrap up our year, we wanted to give a special shoutout to the congresspeople who had us scratching our heads, cussing at our computer screens, and more motivated than ever to end congressional stock trading for good.
We took a little inspiration from Spotify’s annual “Wrapped” summaries of personal music listening to deliver you our top villains of 2025!

Early this year, during President Trump’s tariff rollout and chaotic pullback, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene “bought the dip” across impacted stocks to line her own pockets. Then, as ICE prepared a multi-million dollar contract with surveillance technology company Palintir (which she was privy to as a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security), she bought up plenty of stock. Rather than challenge Palantir’s "predictive policing” programs designed to track everyday Americans, she walked away with a handsome reward: a 48% increase in Palantir stock value less than a month after her purchase.
Republicans aren’t the only ones involved in these unethical trades. Rep. Shri Thenandar bought shares of a Bitcoin treasury company and did not disclose them until well over a year later, which violated the already lax reporting rules governed by the House Ethics Committee. As Congress has been debating cryptocurrency regulations, he has stood to benefit, and the value of his shares reached almost double what he bought them for.
Freshman congressman Rep. Rob Bresnahan campaigned on a promise to work with his colleagues on a congressional stock trading ban. He earned the nickname Broken Promise Bresnahan by March, and has logged over 600 trades since being sworn in. That included dumping stocks in four companies that process Medicaid plans for over half of eligible Americans just one week before voting to gut $1 trillion from the essential, life-saving program.
John, we’re closer than ever to a congressional stock trading ban. A recent discharge petition means the House of Representatives must act on this issue now, and with continued pressure from voters like us, the Senate will follow. Please, make a contribution of $20, $8, or even just $3 to help us continue our work today:
Thank you for being part of our journey in 2025. We’re looking forward to building a less corrupt future now and in 2026.
