Hi there,
We’re reaching out because the recent escalation in anti-trans rhetoric we’re seeing in Congress is dangerous. And Sarah needs you to stand in solidarity with her and speak out against this cruelty today.
In recent months, some members of Congress have spread dehumanizing rhetoric about transgender people. We’ve heard calls to institutionalize all trans people, and that trans folks are “mentally ill” or even a “national security threat.” Some use anti-trans slurs regularly.
Sarah’s faced this rhetoric up close in Congress — but this is so much bigger than just one person. This is about the real harm this hate unleashes. It fuels violence, discrimination, and unbearable fear, and let’s be clear: Republican politicians know exactly what they’re doing.
Republicans in Congress are scapegoating trans people and other vulnerable groups because they have no real solutions for health care, child care, housing, groceries, and every other issue Americans are actually facing. Instead of doing their jobs, they manufacture culture wars to push trans people out of public life and shun anyone who doesn’t fit their narrow box of what’s “acceptable.”
That’s why we have to say clearly and proudly what we stand for, and it’s why Sarah and Rep. Mark Takano led more than 200 Democrats in calling on Speaker Mike Johnson to enforce basic standards of decency and stop this hateful rhetoric in Congress.
Now, Sarah needs you to raise your voice too. If you’re ready to stand in solidarity with Sarah and transgender people everywhere, add your name now to tell MAGA politicians: Stop spreading hateful and violent lies about trans people.
Thank you for making your voice heard. Together, we’ll show that true patriotism means standing up to bullies, giving vulnerable people a hand instead of punching down on them, and recognizing dignity and humanity in every single person — especially when some try to erase it.
In solidarity,
— Team McBride
