PRESIDENT TRUMP SIGNS MY BILL TO HOLD THE IRS ACCOUNTABLE TO IOWA TAXPAYERS

I’m thrilled that President Trump signed my bill to hold the IRS accountable to Iowa taxpayers.

For too long, the IRS has caused headaches and confusion when a taxpayer makes a fixable mistake on their taxes, providing no explanation as to why a refund is different than expected, or how to correct an error.

This law will require the IRS to clearly communicate tax-filing errors to Iowans and help them not only understand the mistake but also challenge it if they see fit.

I will continue to work with President Trump to make government more efficient and ensure that the IRS is accountable to Iowa families, farmers, seniors, and small businesses.

RECEIVING THE AMERICAN PATRIOT AWARD

I’m honored to receive the American Patriot Award from the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) for my work to pass the Working Families Tax Cuts with President Trump.

This historic law delivers a $6,000 tax deduction for our seniors and secures $50 billion for rural hospitals and rural healthcare.

MEETING WITH IOWA JOBS FOR AMERICA'S GRADUATES

Earlier this week, I enjoyed sitting down with representatives from Iowa Jobs for America's Graduates (iJAG).

We had a great conversation about how we can help young Iowans find good-paying jobs and pursue careers in Iowa.

I’ll always work to support the next generation of Iowans!

LOWERING HEALTHCARE COSTS FOR IOWANS

As a former volunteer EMT for 15 years in my hometown of Hull, I want all Iowans to have access to high-quality, affordable healthcare.

The reality is that too many Iowa families, farmers, seniors, and small businesses can't afford health insurance and prescription medications.

That's unacceptable.

It's why I'm focused on lowering healthcare premiums, increasing access to affordable insurance, and protecting our rural hospitals.

We must do everything possible to lower healthcare costs and ensure that Iowans can receive the care and treatment they need and deserve.

SUPPORTING OUR IOWA SMALL BUSINESSES

Small businesses are the backbone of our Main Streets and keep our communities strong and vibrant.

In Iowa alone, small businesses employ the vast majority of Iowans, delivering good-paying jobs, driving investment in our communities, and powering economic growth across our state’s 99 counties.

Ensuring that Iowa small businesses have the resources and support they need to grow and thrive is a top priority for me.

That’s why I’m glad that, with my strong support, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed several pieces of legislation to support Iowa’s small businesses, including Iowa manufacturing and our rural business community.

In Congress, I’ll keep working with President Trump to create jobs, grow our economy, and support our Iowa small businesses.

CUTTING COSTLY RED TAPE FOR IOWA SMALL BUSINESSES

This week, I also supported two bills to reduce costly and burdensome regulations on Iowa small businesses so that we can grow our economy, invest in Main Street, and keep our communities strong.

This is in addition to what we did to support our small businesses by increasing the death tax exemption and making critical tax cuts permanent as part of President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts.

These provisions will grow our economy and help businesses keep their doors open.

HONORED TO BE RECOGNIZED BY THE AMERICAN AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION

I’m humbled to be recognized by the American Ambulance Association for my work to support emergency medical services in Iowa and nationwide.

As a former volunteer EMT for 15 years in my hometown of Hull, I know the importance of rapid ambulance services to save lives.

KEEPING CHINA AWAY FROM OUR KIDS AND OUT OF OUR CLASSROOMS

Yesterday, I voted to keep the Chinese Communist Party out of our classrooms and away from our kids.

The CCP has no business infiltrating our educational system, spying on our kids, and advancing their communist agenda in Iowa.

ONE LAST THING: ANNOUNCING THIS YEAR'S CONGRESSIONAL APP CHALLENGE WINNER!

I want to congratulate Anneka Singh from Ames High School on winning the 2025 Congressional App Challenge in the 4th District!

Her app, called ZeroWaste, helps direct Iowans to local food banks to make donations, ensuring that both perishable and non-perishable food can go to those in need.

It is great to see the next generation of Iowans engage in the emerging fields of technology and innovation, which are an important part of our economy.

I’ll keeping working to ensure that young Iowans have opportunities to grow, learn, and thrive right here in our great state.

MY WEEKLY COLUMN: LOWERING COSTS FOR IOWA SMALL BUSINESSES AND TAXPAYERS

When I’m traveling across Iowa, I’ve had important conversations with Iowans from communities large and small about how we can make life more affordable for our families, farmers, workers, seniors, and small businesses.

From health insurance to housing to grocery bills, I’m working with President Trump and my Republican colleagues to lower costs and ensure that Iowans can keep more of their hard-earned money – just the way that it should be.

Affordability is a top priority for me as Iowa’s voice in Congress.
