2020 North Korea Freedom Scholarship Recipients Announced
This week, the Bush Institute announced the 12 recipients of the 2020 North Korea Freedom Scholarship. Established in 2017, the Scholarship is designed to help North Korean escapees and their children pursue higher education and build productive, prosperous lives as new Americans.

HUMAN FREEDOM | End the Internet Shutdown in Burma
Burma — already notorious for the world’s longest ongoing civil war — now owns the distinction of having the world’s longest internet shutdown. Bush Institute Program Manager Jieun Pyun wrote a piece for The Diplomat urging the international community to put pressure on the Burmese government to restore internet access.

Dr. Juliet Garcia was born in Brownsville, Texas, to parents who saved $ 10 at a time to make sure she got a college education. She later became the first Mexican-American female to head a U.S. university.
