Dear Friends,
The holiday season reminds us to count our blessings, to be kind to one another and to care for our communities – especially the most vulnerable among us. As we celebrate the best in us, we must recommit ourselves to creating a world full of peace and prosperity, love and joy that honors the vision of our founders, the service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform, and the dreams and aspirations of our children. Though our current political situation may at times challenge our natural sense of optimism as a nation, it also presents a new opportunity to strengthen our faith and connection to one another and to always pursue what is right for all of us.
E pluribus unum – from many, one – is not only a national motto for our country but our guide to recognizing and honoring the fact that we are all in this together.
This week, we loudly and proudly marked World AIDS Day, despite this Administration’s hateful attempt to erase it from the calendar as it is wiping away funding for HIV/AIDS research, prevention and treatment. In San Francisco and in communities across America and the globe, we celebrated World AIDS Day with a renewed commitment to fight for this lifesaving funding and a refusal to go back to the deadly era that killed so many of our cherished friends and loved ones. In the face of rising anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination and stigma, we are ever mindful that while we have been able to improve the quality of life of those with HIV/AIDS, the fight is far from over.

The fight to Save Our Health Care more broadly is also far from over as Republicans in Congress continue to refuse to extend the Affordable Care Act credits that millions of Americans rely on to keep their coverage. Republicans in Congress just don’t get it. Their proposal of replacing the ACA with health savings accounts when more people are having trouble affording the cost of insurance in the first place is a confession that they do not understand the basic concept of insurance – or that they think we don’t.
Millions of American voters just responded to the Trump Affordability Crisis by demanding lower costs and health care support. They did not vote for their health care to be stripped away or to be priced out of the coverage they need so Trump and Republicans in Congress can give massive tax cuts to their billionaire donors at their expense. Republicans in Congress may not care about the people’s pain, but they care about their own prospects for re-election. As we have seen in recent elections, Americans across political lines are growing more and more tired of the chaos, cruelty and corruption of this inept Administration.
Republicans need to wake up: Save Our Health Care or lose your jobs – and the House Majority! Under the leadership of Hakeem Jeffries, House Democrats have fought and will continue to fight to extend the ACA tax credits.
In large part because of Volunteers in Politics like you, House Republicans know they are in political trouble because they are hearing it from their own constituents. So keep raising your voices!
Thank you for all that you are doing for our country and for America’s working families. Join us again this coming week as we continue to make calls to Save Our Health Care: [link removed] [[link removed]]
