A special edition with a foreword from our CEO.
Thank you for an outstanding 2025.
Our readership doubled, revenue grew 400 percent, and we just expanded our team with three new journalists and a general counsel.
We hosted events with FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Senators Eric Schmitt and Tim Scott, Google, Microsoft, PhRMA, and EPC.
In January we will launch healthcare, tech, and financial services verticals. We will also add at least one center-left reporter to cover Democrats on the Hill and reach a Democratic policymaker audience. And more.
If you are an advertiser or a consultant, consider partnering with us. There is no better value for reaching policymakers.
If you are looking for a job, we are hiring.
And if you have scoops, send them to our editor in chief, Matthew Foldi, at [email protected] [ mailto:[email protected] ].
Thank you for all your support!

EXCLUSIVE: Inside Sen. Tim Scott’s event with the Electronic Payments Coalition and the Washington Reporter
by Matthew Foldi
New York Times bestselling author Sen. Tim Scott (R., S.C.), who chairs both the Senate’s Banking Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), joined the Washington Reporter and the Electronic Payments Coalition (EPC) on Wednesday night to discuss his latest book, the importance of faith in American politics, the lessons he learned from running for president, and more.
Scott’s latest book, One Nation Always Under God: Profiles in Christian Courage, has a through line: having “faith doesn’t mean that you won’t have trials and tribulations,” he said. In a talk moderated by EPC’s chairman Richard Hunt, Scott described how each chapter in the book profiles an American whose Christian faith helped them change the world in big and small ways; Scott said he wanted to pick stories that Americans had either never heard of or knew little about.
“Faith in America is the only future we have, and without it we have no future,” Scott said, in between reciting Bible verses off the cuff.
“Our story isn’t perfect,” Scott said of America’s history, noting that it has its “bumps and bruises.” But the stories of Americans like Norman Borlaug, whose discoveries saved a billion people from starvation; Eddie Rickenbacker, a flying ace from World War I who commanded soldiers stranded in the Pacific in World War II; and Jim Lovell, one of the Apollo 13 astronauts whose faith sustained him 200,000 miles from Earth, give Scott hope for America’s present and future.
Scott’s own life is a testament to the greatness of America, he said. As a student, Scott failed both English and Spanish. When you fail both of those languages, Scott said, “they don’t call you bilingual. They call you bi-ignint.”

It forces app stores to dismantle safety tools, creating vulnerabilities and exposing users to cyberattacks. It also allows a flood of obscene content and breaks parental controls on app approvals.

When Hunt asked Scott if he’d consider running for president again, Scott demurred, but offered candid reflections on his 2024 bid.
“I was running on a faith in America agenda” at a time when America wanted a “bull in a china shop,” Scott said. “I wasn’t rowdy enough, but was very likable” on the trail. After Scott dropped out, he became a valuable surrogate for now-President Donald Trump on the campaign trail.
“Running for president was exhausting,” Scott said, calling the experience “thrilling and a blessing.” He noted that despite coming up short, he was always running to win. “If you run, you’d better be running for votes.”
Scott, when asked if he prefers rewards or cash back on his credit cards, said that he is a “100 percent miles” person and is “aiming for one million miles” when it comes to his rewards.
Hunt noted to the Reporter after his moderating that his “favorite part was [Scott’s] candor about his grandmother and mother, and his run for president in 2024,” Hunt said. “Chairman Scott has an inspiring story rooted in faith and determination. As a fellow southerner and momma’s boy, I especially loved his comments about his own family and, as a political junkie, would have loved more time to talk to him about his experiences traveling the country as he ran for president. Getting to talk to him about that — as well as a few policy and credit card rewards topics — was an honor.”
Brian Colas, the CEO of the Washington Reporter, said following the event that “Senator Tim Scott is a great American. It was an honor for the Washington Reporter to partner with the Electronic Payments Coalition to host him and celebrate his New York Times bestselling book.”

“Everyone who heard Senator Scott speak about his upbringing and the role of faith in his life immediately understands why he outperforms in his state by ten points and holds a 95 percent favorability rating among Republicans,” Colas added. “We are all lucky to have him serve in the Senate and lead the NRSC.”
The event was the Washington Reporter’s fifth in a series of premiere events starting with FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Sen. Eric Schmitt (R., Mo.), Google, and Microsoft. The event was operated by The Morning Group, a premiere events partner to the Washington Reporter. The outlet will host many more events throughout 2026.
