I also organized a gathering at the Long Branch Senior Center so residents could make their voices heard without having to travel to Trenton. I fought to make this happen after Long Branch residents were shut out in the cold at the sham of a public hearing that RWJ Barnabas put together in Eatontown last month. Every step of the way through this ridiculous process, I’ve fought to make your voices heard—and that’s what I’ll continue to do.
Last night, the health board deferred their decision on closing Monmouth Medical Center hospital in Long Branch over concerns that RWJ Barnabas Health’s application to close it would be devastating to health equity in the region. It’s what I’ve been saying ALL ALONG—and I’m going to keep making our case in front of the health board.
Later, Alina!
Last month, I was pleased by a ruling stating that one of Trump’s handpicked U.S. Attorney cronies, Lindsey Halligan, was illegally appointed and that all of the sham indictments she had levied against Trump’s political opponents were completely invalid. This week, her colleague, Alina Habba, Trump’s pick for U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, was told by a federal appeals that her appointment was illegal too.
Habba wanted to use her illegally obtained office to go after Trump’s enemies and move his agenda along. Her installment meant that actual criminal trials were delayed, and New Jersey’s legal system was thrown into chaos.
In October, I joined a legal brief urging the Third Circuit court to uphold the Preserving United States Attorney Independence Act that I helped pass, which ensures that Presidents can’t install unconfirmed political allies as U.S. Attorneys by requiring Senate confirmation within 120 days. The Third Circuit court agreed with our brief and ruled that Habba is not the legal Acting U.S. Attorney for New Jersey. It’s a win for the checks and balances that keep politics out of our justice system.

Trump and Republicans think affordability is a “con job.”
Trump said it himself! But Americans know better—especially as they’re having to use “Buy Now, Pay Later” options to pay for basic necessities.
This week in my Energy and Commerce Committee, Republicans marked up several bills that only make the affordability crisis worse. Most of the bills gut energy efficiency programs, make buildings use more energy, and revoke assistance meant to help with the upfront costs of appliances and building code adoption.
These bills only serve to further increase monthly energy bills at a time when American families can least afford it. Electricity prices are already up 11 percent across the country – climbing twice as fast as inflation. This jump is even bigger in some parts of the country. And instead of bolstering commonsense energy efficiency measures that help to both lower costs and help us meet the growing demand for power driven by AI data center expansion, Republicans are attempting to completely dismantle them.
Republicans only pay lip service to lowering costs for American families—because their real priorities lie with corporate polluters and keeping President Trump happy, all at the expense of Americans' wallets.
