Washington, D.C. – I hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving! We are back in Washington, D.C. this week.

Monday, I had the opportunity to testify in front of the House Rules Committee for two small business bills that passed the floor this week, including my bill, the Small Business Regulatory Reduction Act of 2025. Click here or on the photo below to watch my remarks.

With a bipartisan vote this week, the House passed legislation that included the Permanent OPTN Fee Authority Act, which I helped to introduce with Rep. Jim Costa earlier this year. This will authorize the Secretary of Health and Human Services to collect registration fees directly from Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) members for each patient listed for transplant.

On Tuesday, I loved getting to spend some time with new media outlets and creators at the second Republican Study Committee New Media Row! We discussed the weeks ahead as we wrap up this year and priorities for 2026.

I was honored to accept the American PATRIOT Award from AMAC, who has over 7,200 members living in Texas-24! With the passage of the Working Families Tax Cuts this year, we are already delivering real results for our nation’s seniors.

On Wednesday, as Chair of the Republican Study Committee’s Budget and Spending Task Force, I testified to the House Budget Committee during their Member Day Hearing. The RSC budget is a roadmap designed to protect the next generation – to ensure they inherit opportunity, not overwhelming debt; growth, not stagnation; and freedom, not a future bound by Washington’s irresponsible choices. I joined my Ways and Means colleagues for our Tax Subcommittee Hearing, Promoting Global Competitiveness for American Workers and Businesses. It was great to have the Honorable Kevin Brady back in the committee room serving as a witness. I was able to question him, you can watch that here or by clicking the photo below.

Had an amazing conversation with Twitch CEO, Dan Clancy! We discussed the Congressional Creators Caucus and the booming creator economy.

Later that afternoon, my House colleagues voted to pass my bill, H.R. 2965 - Small Business Regulatory Reduction Act of 2025. 

This legislation will provide much-needed relief to America’s job creators after they have been burdened by years of overregulation. By prohibiting the SBA from taking any regulatory action that would increase compliance costs for small businesses, we will ensure small businesses keep more of what they earn to reinvest or hire new American workers!

Thursday morning we passed two important bills to keep the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) out of our schools. House Republicans will not allow Communist China, or any other foreign country to influence, spy, or interfere on our children’s education. 

The CLASS Act bans K-12 schools from accepting funding or entering contracts with the Chinese government or the CCP.

The TRACE Act strengthens parents’ rights by requiring school districts to notify families of any foreign financial relationships.

Alongside 23 of my Texas Republican colleagues, I urged CMS to end the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Review Choice Demonstration (IRF RCD) before it expanded into our state.

CMS announced this week that it will move forward with expanding the IRF RCD to Texas. This could cause unnecessary burdens on hospitals and staff. I remain committed to pushing to reduce regulatory barriers for Americans.

This week, H.R. 2965 - Small Business Regulatory Reduction Act of 2025 passed the House with bipartisan support and a vote of 223-190.

Less regulation on Main Street means more prosperity for our communities and a stronger economy for America.
