Steel beam signed by President George W. Bush, Mrs. Laura W. Bush, and architect Robert A.M. Stern during the topping out ceremony for the George W. Bush Presidential Center on Oct. 4, 2011.
In memoriam: Robert A.M. Stern
Robert “Bob” Stern, the architect who designed the George W. Bush Presidential Center, embodied a style that honored history while looking forward, creating spaces that are modern and innovative yet deeply rooted in their context. With his recent passing at age 86, the architectural world lost one of its most influential voices.
“I loved working with him and his great team,” Mrs. Bush said in a statement. “Bob was fun, smart, quick, and talented. I’m thankful for him and all the beauty he leaves behind.”
