I have some bad news to share — but first, I’d like to start by explaining something.

It’s usually around this time that people stop paying attention to politics because they’re logging off for the summer or trying to spend more time outdoors (while practicing social distancing!) — and that makes July a notoriously difficult month for online fundraising.

So, when I found out we missed our mid-month goal last night, I wasn’t surprised. But to tell you the truth, I was disappointed when I saw just how big the gap was.

My team expected our numbers to take a dip… just not by this much. This is officially shaping up to be one of our worst fundraising months all year. And unless we see a surge in grassroots donations in the next few hours, we run the risk of falling further and further behind.

I’m writing to let you know we are extending our fundraising deadline through midnight tomorrow — and I’m personally asking you to pitch in an urgent, last-minute donation right now, if you can.

We missed an important fundraising goal — and it happened fewer than four months away from Election Day. We’re smack dab in the middle of the final stretch of this election, and we cannot afford to fall short at this time.

Minnesota is a must-win state for Democrats to take back the Senate majority. But we're a top target for Donald Trump and his cronies, especially after his near-win here in 2016. His campaign is dumping millions of dollars into our state because he doesn’t want us slipping through his fingers again.

That’s why we’re relying on grassroots donations from messages just like this more than ever before. I’m not exaggerating when I say that every dollar you give helps us continue our important work to stop Trump from turning Minnesota red and take back the majority in Washington.
