National: Access to Education 🍎

When it comes to education, parents know best. That's why the executive order signed by President Trump is so meaningful for Hispanic students in Texas. 📚

The order established the White House Hispanic Prosperity Initiative which will clear pathways for Hispanic students and parents to choose the best educational opportunities for their children. This will lead to greater outcomes for the students who will be better prepared to either enter the workforce or pursue higher education.

State: Do the Texas Two-Step 💃

How can the Texas Legislature build on their previous successes on reforming the child protective and foster care systems? By coordinating the Family First Prevention Services Act with community-based care.

TPPF released a research paper titled The Texas Two-Step: Community-Based Care and the Family First Prevention Services Act. Distinguished Senior Fellow of Child and Family Policy Andrew Brown said, "Lawmakers should take a thoughtful, fiscally responsible approach to making these decisions that prioritize the expansion and improvement of the community-based care reforms that are already proving successful at improving outcomes for at-risk children and their families.”

Local: Win, Win, Win for Transparency 🙌

When Terry Putnam made an open records request for a "payback analysis" from the city of Georgetown on one of their solar panel projects, he was denied. TPPF stepped in to represent Mr. Putnam and on July 7, the District Court ruled in favor of transparency.

They ruled that "the 'payback analysis'... is not excepted from public disclosure under Texas law." TPPF's General Counsel Robert Henneke stated "The court's order is not only a win for Mr. Putnam, but a win for transparency in government that benefits all Texans."

Without action, government grows and becomes more intrusive in our lives. Join the fight!
