Dear Friend of Israel,

On Tuesday, the House Appropriations Committee passed the Department of Defense funding bill, which includes important bipartisan measures AIPAC has lobbied for that will help keep Israel safe and America strong.

This is a very important step in the legislative process to fund critical U.S.-Israel cooperative spending for Fiscal Year 2021 and another important step forward.

These provisions include:
-
$500 million for U.S.-Israel missile defense cooperation.
-
$47.5 million for U.S.-Israel anti-tunnel technology cooperation.
- $25 million for U.S.-Israel counter-unmanned aerial systems (UAS) cooperation.AIPAC applauds the House Appropriations Committee for supporting these and other important bipartisan pro-Israel initiatives.
Below my signature is more news from the week.

Sincerely,

Brian Shankman

Oppose Efforts to Restrict Aid to Israel

An amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) was introduced in the Senate to restrict U.S. security assistance to Israel in ways that would jeopardize Israel’s ability to defend itself by itself.

This amendment politicizes U.S. support for Israel’s security.

It contradicts the 2016 Obama Memorandum of Understanding by putting dangerous restrictions on Israel’s security assistance and undermines Israel’s security by prohibiting it from using U.S.-made equipment to defend itself in a variety of foreseeable scenarios.

Please urge your senators to stand with Israel and oppose this dangerous amendment.

IAEA Threatens Action Against Iran

On Wednesday, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi

warned that things "will be bad" for Iran if it does not allow inspectors to view suspected nuclear sites by the end of July.

This follows the IAEA's June report that stated there is a "serious concern that, for over four months, Iran has denied access to the Agency" to locations that may have been used for storing or processing nuclear material.

"I keep insisting on the absolute necessity for us to resolve this issue very soon," Grossi said. This "isn't going to go away."

Iran’s actions beg the question: What is the regime hiding?

A

cyberattack targeted two Israeli water infrastructure facilities, the Israeli Water Authority confirmed on Thursday.

According to officials, the attacks were aimed at agricultural water pumps in the Upper Galilee and infrastructure in the center of the country.

In April, the Iranian regime carried out a major

cyberattack targeting Israel's civilian water supply. Israel's head of cybersecurity said the attempted hacking into Israel’s water systems marked the first time in modern history that "we can see something like this aiming to cause damage to real life and not to IT or data."

research shows coronavirus causes lungs to accumulate fat. With this understanding, the American-Israeli team found that a cholesterol-lowering drug may help downgrade the COVID-19 threat to that of a common cold.

Congress is advancing bipartisan legislation to expand U.S.-Israel cooperation on COVID-19 research.
