Dear john,

Each year, I am tasked with the responsibility of nominating students from our district who wish to attend a military service academy and begin a career in our armed forces. This week, I was honored to submit 26 names for nomination to the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. To learn more about my nominees, read my full press release. Congratulations to these exceptional young people! Our district and our nation are rooting for you.

This week in Washington, I was proud to help pass bipartisan legislation aimed at making common-sense updates to our federal legal code. The Count the Crimes to Cut Act would require the Department of Justice and federal agency heads to compile a comprehensive report detailing all federal criminal statutes and regulations entailing criminal penalties. For more information on the unanimous House passage of this bill, and to read the full legislation, click here.

With my colleagues from the Congressional Black Caucus, I was proud to take part in a Special Order Hour focused on the men and women all across this country who are feeling the impacts of rising costs. I was able to uplift some of the stories shared by constituents just like you, and I want to thank all those who continue to speak out about the struggles they are facing due to skyrocketing expenses, whether that be for health care, education, or housing. As we look ahead to 2026, I will continue fighting to build a better life for the hardworking families I am privileged to represent here in Georgia.

With regard to health care in particular, I joined a conversation with fellow Democratic members of the House Committee on Education and Workforce to keep the focus on our Republican colleagues' refusal to address the expiring Affordable Care Act Premium Tax Credits. This will impact millions of people across the country—tens of thousands in our district alone—and time is running out to address this crisis. I will continue speaking up about the concerns I hear every day, and I will do all that I can to hold this Administration and Republican leadership in Congress accountable.
