Friend, One of my favorite things ever is being outside on a beautiful fall day. A lot
of the work we do is outside: we organize in communities, we advocate for our
issues and candidates door-to-door — all so we can protect and enjoy nature,
clean water, and clean air. I take advantage of our awesome public lands whenever I can. I spent some of
Thanksgiving outside running with my wife and then exploring with our young
daughter and lots of other family. In that spirit, I am so grateful for everyone
in the Conservation Voters Movement. The people I work with are talented and
passionate about this work individually, and together, we’re much greater than
the sum of our parts. There’s so many things we’re damn good at. You stepped up for Giving Tuesday, Friend, and I’m also grateful for
your support. Thanks to supporters like you, we met our goal for Giving Tuesday,
which will make a difference well into next year. And now, with 2025 coming to a close, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on the
work we’ve done this year, and the things still left to accomplish. One moment that stands out for me is being in Virginia the day before Election
Day, when I met up with an amazing group of folks working to turn out voters. We
proved that when we meet voters where they are — talking about how everything is
too expensive and the role clean energy plays in battling high energy bills — we
win. When we innovate and apply what we’ve learned, we win. And none of this
would be possible without supporters like you. Thank you. I think about the LCV annual staff retreat we held in September. Early one
morning before we began our day, I walked out on a little pier just before
sunrise. One of the organizers on our team (a fellow early bird) was also there,
and we stood and watched the sun come up over the water together. We are in a deeply unsettling time. Energy prices are skyrocketing due to the
Trump administration’s corruption and stacking the deck for fossil fuels. The
government shutdown ended without a real resolution, and the constant assaults
on nature and our democracy continue to keep me up at night. Sure, something as simple as watching a pretty sunrise over water doesn't make
our world a better place, but at that moment I kept coming back to this: we need
hope. Hope is what fuels us spiritually as people. We have to believe better
days are ahead. And that sunrise, with a Conservation Voters Movement full of
smart, passionate people doing fantastic work thanks to supporters like you,
gave me hope. Like many environmental organizations, we’re always looking for ways to do
better,  but we also know how to do a lot of things really well, and in the
midst of daunting and dark times, we can bring the light forward. Not just
individually, but because of what we do together, as an organization and as the
Conservation Voters Movement. What gives me hope is that we’re in this together, Friend. And we
