| Delaying these elections is a disgrace.
Especially in the grips of a cost-of-living crisis and when local services are stretched to breaking point. People deserve to have their voices heard.
We Liberal Democrats believe that local communities know what is best for them. To deny communities a say on how they are governed is to ignore their concerns and treat them with disdain.
We all know Labour delayed these elections to save their own skin - the public are fed up with their failure in government. They did the same earlier this year, backed by the Conservatives, when elections for reorganised councils were delayed.
Thankfully, these will now go ahead this coming May, despite Conservative council leaders yet again calling for their postponement.
John, we must end this blatant stitch up between the Conservatives and Labour, and give millions of people their vote back in May.
