Friend, today is National AFL-CIO Day, and I wanted to share why my advocacy for working families isn't campaign rhetoric—it's who I am. My values were shaped by my working-class upbringing and watching my father fight as president of his union for fair wages and better benefits, not just for himself but for the single mom who needed reliable health insurance, the worker nearing retirement, and the new employee who needed someone in their corner. Unions are here to give working people a voice and lift everyone up. 
Last month, I joined Starbucks Workers United on their strike! That's why the continued support I've received from Colorado's AFL-CIO during my successful races in the State House has meant so much to me. Their endorsements didn't just help me win—they allowed me to represent the working families of Colorado with the backing of an organization that shares my values.
