Today, something devastating and dangerous happened in this country, and we need to be brutally honest about what it means.
The Supreme Court just overruled a federal court and allowed Texas to use a congressional map that was explicitly found to be racially gerrymandered.
A lower court confirmed that the map violated federal law by diluting Black and Latino voting power. It was designed by Trump’s allies to lock in Republican control of Texas for years to come.
And now? Trump’s Supreme Court has stepped in to save it. This was not a neutral legal ruling. It was a political rescue mission.
SCOTUS is compromised. A majority appointed by Trump is now shielding Trump-backed maps even when they are unconstitutional. Even when they silence millions of voters. Even when they attack the basic idea of equal representation.
If they can get away with this in Texas, they will do it everywhere. This is how authoritarianism spreads: one stolen map at a time, one silenced community at a time, one “emergency” Supreme Court order at a time.
And unless we fight back with everything we have, Republicans will walk into 2026 with maps engineered to hand them the House before a single vote is cast.
