My name is Star Parker — and before I ever dreamed of running for
Congress, I lived a very different life.
I was a runaway teenager.
I was mixed up in drugs, crime, and chaos.
I was an unemployed single mother living on welfare, barely literate,
angry, and convinced the world owed me a living.
I came to Los Angeles in the 1970s hoping to dance on Soul Train.
Instead, I found myself trapped in a destructive cycle that the
government claimed would “help” me…but only made everything
worse.
I learned the hard way what big government really does to people: it
keeps them dependent, powerless, and broken.

BUT EVERYTHING CHANGED WHEN I FOUND CHRIST, and with it, a new
clarity, a new direction, and a no-excuses belief in the dignity of
personal responsibility.
I took control of my life.
I left welfare.
I built a business, a career, and a platform grounded in truth — not
fear.
For decades, I’ve spoken out against the same government overreach
that once held me hostage:
• Telling Americans they’re victims instead of empowering them
• Encouraging generational dependency instead of independence
• Weaponizing identity politics
• Undermining family, faith, and moral responsibility
• Expanding a bloated bureaucracy that swallows communities whole
That experience — that transformation — is exactly why I’m
running for Congress in California’s 49th District.
Because I’ve lived under the system Washington built…And I know
exactly how to dismantle it.
