Friend, I’ll always treat this campaign as a direct, straightforward conversation with you.
We got almost 3,000 responses to the short survey we sent out earlier this month. I not only learned a lot from what you had to say, I got a couple smiles, too. (To the person who asked if I’d take them for a ride in a fighter jet—stay tuned.)
But seriously: So many of you asked for a campaign that will work to restore our democracy and put people ahead of party again.
Will you promise to not just vote your party line? Will you promise to vote your conscience? Will you promise to listen to every side without judgement before voting? —Sueanna
(To all of those questions: Yes. I will).
Visit all the VFW's and small town gathering places in Kentucky. Visit all the small town church leaders of all denominations and get them on your side. Make this a very human centered campaign. —Martha
(Challenge accepted.)
You were forthright and honest about your priorities, and you’ve both confirmed and expanded my to-do list:
Social security is my only income...please save it and expand it. Same with Medicare. —Katherine
Election security. —Bob
Oh, and speaking of election security, Mitch came up, too—a lot. You all definitely have no shortage of words about him.
I am so fed up with Mitch McConnell refusing to take action on bills, even when they enjoy broad bipartisan support! My number 1 priority is making sure our democratic elections remain free and fair—and out of the reach of foreign adversaries. —Stephanie
Ask McConnell why he brags about blocking bills with bipartisan support when he’s supposed to be working for the people. —Linda
Mitch McConnell thinks he owns his Senate seat. He thinks he is the most powerful man in America and he shows it by refusing to let the Senate vote on bills he doesn’t like. —Hunt
Lots to think about here as we plan our next steps. For now, I want you to know that your words truly shape this campaign. I asked for your feedback because it matters to me.
That’s because this campaign belongs to you, and no one else.
Grateful for all you do and for all of your thoughtful input,
Amy
