In a moment, I’m going to ask you to chip in to support Senator Mark Warner’s official reelection launch. But first, I want to explain why this moment calls for all of us to lean in.

Too often, the news feels designed to leave people discouraged – especially when Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans seem unconstrained in serving themselves and the well-connected instead of the people they were elected to represent.

But this is exactly why we must insist on using the power that democracy puts in our hands as citizens. We’re not bystanders, and we are far from powerless.

Indeed, we have had some fresh reminders of that recently. Across the country in recent weeks, we’ve seen voters choose results over chaos, and leadership over cynicism. Candidates have prevailed with a focus on solving real problems and bringing down costs for families.

Hope isn’t something we wait around for – it’s something we create together. And one of the ways we do that is by activating behind leaders who approach public service with seriousness and a sense of responsibility like Senator Mark Warner.
