TAKE FIVE | Friday, December 5
|
Hey Friend,
This will be the last Take Five newsletter of the year. And what a helluva year it's been.
For millions of Americans, the curtain fell for maybe the first time in 2025. Behind that curtain was a president openly collaborating with the ultra wealthy, a strategic plan to dismantle democracy, and cruel intentions to inflict economic and political violence on our communities.
Just like so many times before, working people were prepared to take the brunt of the abuse, while also organizing to be the leaders we need most in this moment. As corporations and institutions continue to bend the knee for this new regime, our movements consolidate fear and anger into strategic resistance and growing solidarity.
We hope the winter months ahead provide clarity no matter the darkness, warmth in ever-expanding community, and the grace to refuel so that we can all dream bigger and fight harder in 2026.
Check out news you can use, updates from the JwJ network, and ways to take action below.

No CEO should be allowed to turn human beings into a revenue stream. And no worker should be forced to carry out cruelty because of corporate greed.
A movement to end ICE flights and dismantle the deportation machine is growing. But we need working people like you to add your voice and stand in solidarity!
Add your name to the ICE Out! Pledge.

Federal workers serve the public, not politicians or billionaires. They are risking their livelihoods to protect communities from the damage accelerated by the Trump regime. Stand with the Fair Housing Three as they fight to protect our most vulnerable communities from discrimination by landlords, real estate agents, lenders and corporate investors. ADD YOUR NAME! ✍️

SOLIDARITY, NOT CHARITY
📍Philadelphia, PA & Brewer, ME
Philadelphia Jobs with Justice has spent the past few weeks co-creating solidarity with a coalition of local community and labor organizations. They are preparing meals for striking Starbucks Workers United workers and organizing food drives for federal workers still playing catch-up after the longest government shutdown in history.
Jobs with Justice affiliate Food AND Medicine recently distributed a staggering 1,675 Solidarity Harvest boxes in just 13 days. Solidarity Harvest began in 2003 in response to a landslide of mill closings that left thousands of workers without jobs. Since then, unions, farmers, faith communities, volunteer organizations, and businesses have come together each year to provide locally-grown and purchased food to laid-off workers and families who have hit hard times. Learn more about Solidarity Harvest here.

📍Portland, Oregon
Labor leaders continue to be a priority target for deportation and harassment, but working people are uniting against these attacks. Portland Jobs with Justice has joined a coalition of faith, labor, and immigrant rights groups to rally behind Francisco Aguirre, a beloved and influential leader in the immigrant rights and labor movements and a refugee from El Salvador. He faces an unjust deportation as his case for asylum is purposefully stalled. Learn more about Francisco's story and #UnitedWithFrancisco here.
