Friends and Neighbors,

Earlier this week, New York achieved our first day with zero COVID deaths since this crisis took hold of our city in March. But as cases surge around the country, leadership from the federal government has never been more needed - and it certainly isn’t coming from Donald Trump.

These past few months have been a challenging and uncertain time for Americans. The impacts of COVID-19 have gone beyond the horrifying losses suffered by the families and friends of the 140,000 souls we have lost; COVID has also added burdens on our healthcare resources, our essential employees, our national economic stability, our job security, our mental health, and so much more.

We’ve already passed the Families First and CARES relief bills into law, but there is so much more to be done.

Here are just a few of the bills and efforts I’m supporting to help safeguard the health and wellbeing of the American people:

• H.R.6496 The Emergency Money for the People Act
• H.R.6909 The Pandemic Heroes Compensation Act

• H.R.6800 The Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions (HEROES) Act

After helping ensure oversight measures were included in the CARES Act, I was also appointed to the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis. In conducting oversight on CARES Act spending, my colleagues and I have demanded the return of PPP funds from large corporations, requested contracts awarded to vaccine research and development firms, worked for assistance to save the USPS, fought for increased vote by mail, and more.

It's more important than ever that we have effective leaders making decisions driven by data and medical facts, not political divisiveness, to ensure adequate COVID-19 recovery for Americans.
