The Supreme Court has officially approved Texas’ new Trump-endorsed congressional maps for 2026. These are the same maps that a lower court ruled unconstitutional because of racial gerrymandering . The same maps, experts say, could hand Republicans up to 5 extra House seats next year.
And today, the conservative majority on the Court said Texas can use them anyway.
But here is what they are forgetting. Maps don’t vote. People do.
And if the recent Tennessee special election taught us anything, it’s that the GOP is not nearly as invincible as they pretend to be. Even in deep-red districts, margins are shrinking. Voters are shifting. And when turnout spikes in places Republicans have taken for granted, they panic.
