But I was made by my community — the teachers and adults in my life who helped me thrive in school and apply for college scholarships. I’m a product of the American Dream.
But it’s becoming increasingly harder to forge a better life. College tuition has tripled, healthcare is more expensive than ever, and the middle class is disappearing right before our eyes.
As a journalist for forty years, I’ve always sought to hold power accountable. From covering stories about addiction to offshoring jobs to civil rights, I’ve never been afraid to ruffle feathers and tell the unvarnished truth.

For the past seven years, Ben Cline has refused to stand up for us in Congress — a job teed up for him by his father-in-law and wealthy elites. Instead, he’s supported tariffs, raising healthcare premiums, tax cuts for the ultra-rich, and gutted SNAP benefits. What kind of leadership is that?
His time is up.
So if like me, you believe VA-06 is ready for change, will you pitch in today and split a contribution with my campaign and Ghazala Hashmi? We can build a real movement of every day Virginians who are just as fired up as I am.
