John —

I am disturbed by the apparent incompetence and cruelty of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth who was confirmed by the Senate by only one vote.

I believe we need a full investigation and accounting of Secretary Hegseth’s actions, and if these allegations are found to be true, he must resign.

It troubles me that this is only happening because NC Senator Thom Tillis changed his mind and voted to confirm Hegseth. I would have voted No, but we know that my opponent Michael Whatley would have voted Yes. Now, we’re dealing with the consequences.

First, we learned earlier this year that Hegseth may have put U.S. service members’ lives at risk by sharing classified information in an unsecure messaging channel, a possibility confirmed this week by a Pentagon watchdog report.

Then, Hegseth ordered that the real news organizations — the same ones that uncovered his Signalgate scandal — have their press passes revoked unless they agreed to clear all reporting through the Pentagon. That’s a clear violation of the independence of the press.

Now, there’s reporting that Hegseth may have ordered a second strike on a boat in the Caribbean in order to kill survivors. Let me be clear: We should commit as many resources as possible to stopping drug trafficking, but if that allegation is true, it would constitute a war crime.

Every single one of these actions is beneath his position, and every one makes our country less safe.

John, I’m personally asking you to sign my petition today to hold Secretary Hegseth and this administration accountable. We need to stand together on this. Click to add your name.
