Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight recently analyzed Arizona’s shift from safe Republican to the top swing state in the country.

Here’s what they had to say about how Arizona is changing:

Arizona has shifted in the last two major election cycles in part because of the nation's “extremely pro-Democratic national environment.”
The Latino, Black, and Native American populations that constitute the Democratic base in Arizona are growing.
Suburban voters, specifically in Maricopa County, have been trending Democrat since the 2016 election.

Democratic momentum is so strong in Arizona that FiveThirtyEight’s polling shows that Arizonans CAN block Trump from winning their 11 electoral votes and flip our U.S. Senate seat blue.
