Judicial Watch
Dear Fellow American,

As a loyal Judicial Watch follower, I know how strongly you feel about stopping illegal immigration and preventing reckless officials from sheltering criminal aliens and undermining the rule of law.

That’s why I’m proud to share this special update.

In recent weeks, our team has filed two new lawsuits to expose sanctuary jurisdictions actively thwarting federal law enforcement’s efforts to remove illegal aliens.

I want to be upfront with you that we want to do more to stop this lawlessness, and I would very much value your financial support in our efforts.

Please keep that in mind as you read and decide whether you want to join our fight:

  1. Arizona
  2. On November 4th, we filed an Arizona Public Records Law lawsuit against Gov. Katie Hobbs. Our demand is to see the records regarding her office reportedly ordering state police and the Arizona National Guard to withhold cooperation from federal immigration enforcement authorities.

Arizona law is clear: “No official or agency of this state or a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state may limit or restrict the enforcement of federal immigration laws to less than the full extent permitted by federal law.”

Yet in November 2024, Hobbs responded to a question on whether Arizona’s state police and National Guard would assist with federal immigration enforcement efforts by stating: “I will not tolerate efforts that are part of misguided policies that harm our communities… Arizona will not take part in those…. We will not be participating in misguided efforts that harm our communities.”

When we asked for communications and legal analyses behind this radical stance, her office came back with “no responsive records.” This is why we are suing now.

  1. Evanston, IL
  2. On November 6th, we filed an Illinois Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against Mayor Daniel Biss for records related to obstruction of federal immigration enforcement.

The mayor’s office previously had not complied with a records request on Biss’s activities around ICE’s “Operation Midway Blitz”, including his potential participation in a protest at the ICE facility in Broadview, IL (federal officials describe rioters obstructing law enforcement, throwing tear gas cans, rocks, bottles, and fireworks, slashing tires, and blocking entrance to the building).

Biss is also reported to have ordered license plate cameras turned off when he learned the data was being shared with federal immigration authorities.

According to this mayor, Evanston has been “passing strong sanctuary laws to make sure police are not cooperating with federal civil immigration enforcement.”

YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS HELP JUDICIAL WATCH EXPOSE SANCTUARY LAWLESSNES

There is no question that the actions above are illegal. Federal supremacy in immigration matters is established by the U.S. Constitution’s Supremacy Clause.

But the criminal illegal aliens who flock to cities like Evanston (adjacent to Chicago) and states like Arizona will keep doing so because they know leftist politicians will protect them.

The first step towards stopping this blatant disregard for the law is to do the job the mainstream media refuses to: expose this abuse to the public.

That’s where Judicial Watch comes in as America’s largest public records litigator and why additional financial support is so important to protecting the rule of law.

To investigate, demand records, and file the hard-hitting lawsuits necessary to expose attacks on federal immigration enforcement, Judicial Watch is making efforts to budget additional resources as soon as possible.
