Trump called Rep. Ilhan Omar and other Somali immigrants “garbage” during his cabinet meeting this week.1 The xenophobic rant came as the White House threatened to unleash violent ICE raids on Minneapolis-St.Paul, cities that are home to large Somali-American communities.2

New Orleans is also bracing for one of Trump’s invasions.3 Communities across the country are living in fear of masked agents rushing car washes, restaurants, construction sites, Home Depot parking lots, schools, and places of worship. ICE is tearing families apart every day, throwing spouses in ICE detention and separating children from their parents at routine immigration appointments.4,5

Trump, Stephen Miller, and Tom Homan want to continue spreading their ICE terror to every city in America. We need our leaders in Congress to stop ICE now.

Rep. Omar’s office called Trump’s frequent racist targeting of the lawmaker an “obsession.”6

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said of Trump’s hateful comments, “To again, villainize an entire group is ridiculous under any circumstances. And the way that Donald Trump is consistent in doing it, I think calls into question major constitutional violations.”7

Day after day, Trump’s lawless ICE agents snatch people away from their families, throw them into ICE prisons, and deport them. Immigrant advocates have described the ever-present threat of ICE raids in communities across the country as “psychological warfare.”8

These are the horrors of Trump’s authoritarian immigration policies. Congress must use all of its powers to stop Trump, Miller, and ICE.
