John, Earlier this week, I sent President Trump a letter encouraging him to give the ultimate gift to the American people by calling for the adoption of a Balanced Budget Amendment to the United States Constitution.
It isn't an easy path to add an Amendment to the Constitution - and that's a good thing. But it CAN be done by Congress proposing and passing an Amendment with a two-thirds majority in each chamber that would then be ratified by three-fourths of the states. It does not need to be done in a Constitutional Convention. |
I believe that if President Trump identifies this as a priority and pushes his allies in Congress to get serious about it, we'll have the most positive movement toward a bipartisan solution on this issue that we've seen in a very long time.
