Trump and Congress are trying to block commonsense AI safeguards like my RAISE Act, which would protect New Yorkers from threats like AI-generated bioweapons. ⬇️

Friend, what Donald Trump is doing — threatening to sign an executive order to block any legislation that regulates AI — is really bad, and really dangerous.

Ensuring powerful AI technology isn't used for harm is literally a matter of life and death. Trump and Congressional Republicans claim they want a national AI safety standard, but we all know that's a lie.

The truth is, their Big Tech overlords don't want any regulation at all, and it's a lot cheaper for them to buy off the president and Congress than it is to try and buy off 50 state legislatures. Plus, we’re not for sale.

If the federal government won't act to keep people safe, states like New York must. That's why I'm so passionate about my RAISE Act, and all the other common-sense bills I work on in Albany.

Friend, my job as a state senator is to serve our district and work to make sure our state is as safe as it possibly can be — and I'm going to fight whoever I need to to make that happen. Andrew Gounardes is a champion for the working class and middle class families that are the backbone of New York.

He’s passed more than 100 bills into law, including legislation to protect kids from harmful social media algorithms, close a loophole in the state’s wage theft law, strengthen payment protections for freelance workers, expand the life-saving school zone speed camera program, guarantee family death benefits for public workers who died from Covid-19, and help secure and expand benefits for 9/11 responders.

He is working to help make college more affordable for New York students, dismantle the legal protections that allow perpetrators of workplace harassment and discrimination to prey on vulnerable workers, tackle the housing crisis by making it easier to build more affordable housing, and as a daily transit rider, fighting to improve the reliability, accessibility, and accountability of the MTA for all New Yorkers.
