John,
Two of the most harmful laws passed this legislative session take effect today: House Bill 7 [[link removed]] , which bans abortion pills in Texas , and and Senate Bill 8 [[link removed]] , an invasive "bathroom bill" targeting transgender Texans.
House Bill 7 bans the distribution of abortion-inducing medication through the mail and establishes civil liability for people or entities that prescribe, dispense, or deliver such medication. Instead of the state enforcing the law, HB 7 empowers private citizens to sue anyone they think is breaking the law or intends to break the law through a whistleblower lawsuit.
Senate Bill 8 prohibits transgender and gender-diverse Texans from using public restrooms, locker rooms, and other facilities consistent with their gender identity, instead mandating the use of facilities based on sex assigned at birth. This bill fuels stigma, harassment, and humiliation for trans people who are simply trying to go about their daily lives.
It's yet another difficult day in a state where our leaders continually work against us. But I'm taking heart in the power of community action. The religious right may continue to push their hate and restrict our rights, but remember: they are the minority . When we all show up for each other at the ballot box, the Capitol, and city hall, we do make a difference.
In 2026, TFN and our youth organizing arm, Texas Rising Action, will endorse candidates who fight for every Texan’s right to live as their most authentic selves and access the healthcare they need — free from government interference. With your continued support, we'll keep fighting until we have a truly representative government that works to expand our freedoms, not take them away.
Let us know you're with us in 2026 ✊ [[link removed]]
When you fill out our form, you'll join our 2026 elections list [[link removed]] so you can be the first to hear about our endorsements and get ready to vote for positive change and accountability next year. We'll hit the ground running after the holidays to prep for the state primaries. Will you make sure you're ready, too? [[link removed]]
In the fight,
