Dear Friend,
Coming up shortly, the Church
calendar has three Marian feast days; and two are Solemnities. What do
they have in common? The holiness and purity of the Blessed Virgin
Mary.
You have an opportunity to submit
your intentions that will be included in five Holy Masses invoking the
intercession of the Mother of God, from December 8 – December
12.
December 8th is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception
of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the United States, it is a Holy Day of Obligation because
under that title given to Mary, as the Immaculate Conception, she was
proclaimed the Patroness of the United States. Let us invoke the
Blessed Mother to sweep our country clean from pornography, illicit,
unnatural and impure acts of lust, and to fill every citizen’s heart
with a desire for modesty and to live morally - not only in the
clothing worn but also in the foul language spoken so frequently in
daily conversations. May Our Lady come to the aid of all those who
suffer from gender dysphoria, i.e. transgenderism, that they may
experience God’s love and be open to know the truth – not to give in
to reconstruct or change their natural gender – to keep their bodies
pure.
December 10th is the Memorial Feast of Our
Lady of Loreto. In the Litany
of the Blessed Virgin Mary, also known as the Litany of Loreto, we
recite the following invocations: Mother most pure, pray for us,
Mother most chaste, pray for us, Mother inviolate, pray for us and
Mother undefiled, pray for us. It is indeed a beautiful way to praise
Mary’s purity and holiness.
December 10th is also the
100th Anniversary
of the Apparition of the Virgin Mary of Fatima, together with her
Infant Son Jesus, to the Venerable Servant of God, Sister Lúcia dos
Santos. On that day, the
Blessed Virgin Mary, under her title of Our Lady of Fatima and of the
Most Holy Rosary, appeared with the Child Jesus and revealed her
Immaculate Heart encircled with thorns. The Child Jesus asked us to
have compassion on His Mother’s Heart and to make reparation for the
offenses by which ungrateful and sinful men pierce it at every moment.
Cardinal Burke will offer a Holy Mass at 12:15 PM on December 10, at
the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. All are
welcome to attend in person.
December 12th is the Solemnity of Our Lady of
Guadalupe, also called the
Virgin of Guadalupe and the Patroness of the Americas. Under this
title of the Blessed Mother, she is also called the Patroness of the
Unborn and the Pro-life Movement. I have read about young people
asking the Virgin of Guadalupe to come to their aid in remaining pure
and chaste until their Sacramental Marriage. Cardinal Burke will offer
a Holy Mass at 1:00 PM on December 12, at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, in
La Crosse, Wisconsin. All are welcome to attend in person.
Let us entrust all of our petitions
to the Holy and Pure Virgin Mary, who will never abandon us, for she
is our Mother!
May the Blessed Virgin Mary, who
leads us to the tender mercy of God, continue to assist us in all our
necessities and especially for many graces to be bestowed upon
Cardinal Burke. Our heavenly Mother watches over His Eminence with
great love, let us also thank her!
Yours in the Sacred Heart of Jesus
and the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
