We just helped Akbar Ali win his runoff election to become the youngest state legislator in Georgia. Taking that title from our former candidate from last cycle, State Rep Bryce Berry who was elected at 23 years old last year.
And get this: he won by just 153 votes. That means every ounce of support made a difference.
Akbar built his foundation of support the hard way: months of door knocking, one conversation at a time, even traveling with two interpreters so every community could be heard and included in his campaign.
And Leaders We Deserve had his back. Together, we turned a long-shot race into a victory for a candidate who represents the best of what the next generation has to offer. Not only was the LWD team on the phone with Akbar non-stop, not only did we financially support him, we also showed up to knock doors with him in the district. Now that Akbar has won his election, he can focus on his top priorities in office:
- Lowering the costs of everyday expenses for Georgia families
- Reducing the burden of health care costs
- Fully funding schools and keeping students, teachers, and school staff safe
- Fighting Trump's agenda and protecting communities from extremist policies
