Believing that God called her to fight against child sex trafficking worldwide, Linda Smith embarked on that journey along with her husband Vern in 1998 and established Shared Hope International. Their founding belief in a God who is big enough to bring children out of the darkness of sex trafficking endures and continues to gain strength after 22 years.
The Faith Initiative Web Series underscores our mission to educate, equip and empower the local church to effectively bring faith to the fight against child sex trafficking. Our speakers will respond to the burning question of those who feel called to make a difference: "But what can I do?"
Panelists are faith-filled leaders, each with an important message on the issue of child sexual abuse and trafficking. They are survivors, pastors, advocates, and service providers who will share experiences and insights that provide practical guidance for impacting these issues in your church, your home and your community. This series will speak on topics such as:
- The significance of faith in a survivor’s journey to restoration
- Practical ways the church can help prevent trafficking
- How to be a part of the restoration journey for survivors
- How to recognize child sexual exploitation within the church walls
- Societal issues that contribute to child sexual exploitation and what believers can do to make a difference
- What is our collective responsibility as Christians and as part of the world, to protect the most vulnerable?
