Friend,

If Congress fails to extend the $600 weekly unemployment benefits to mitigate the pandemic’s devastating job losses—benefits that are set to expire at the end of this month—it could cost more than 5 million jobs and $500 million in personal income.

The next round of COVID-19 relief passed by Congress must also include worker protections, investments in our democracy, and resources for coronavirus testing and contact tracing. Policymakers should prioritize long-overdue overhauls of federal labor law and continue to strengthen wage standards that protect workers and help boost consumer demand. This legislative package must also include substantial aid to state and local governments so they can invest in the services that will allow the economy to recover, particularly public health and education sectors.

We are living through challenging times. Thank you for all you do to fight for an economy that works for all us, not just the wealthy few.
