Dear john,
The Pentagon has overhauled its press corps after instituting new rules on reporting that were overwhelmingly rejected by major news organizations.
In mid-October, the Pentagon began restricting access to the building, permitting only journalists who signed a 21-page document. According to the New York Times, the document includes new rules that "codify sharp limitations on access and raise the prospect of punishment — including revocation of credentials — for simply requesting information on matters of public interest."
The news organizations that refused to sign the new rules include ABC News, the Associated Press, CBS News, CNN, Fox News, the New York Times, Newsmax, PBS Newshour, Reuters, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, and so many more.
So who did sign?
LindellTV: an online streaming site operated by Mike Lindell, the chief executive of MyPillow and an outspoken supporter of President Trump. Lindell helped to fund efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Timcast Media: a company owned by right-wing podcaster Tim Pool who received payments to make videos for a company clandestinely funded by Russian state media actors to promote division in the United States, according to a federal indictment.
Gateway Pundit: a right-wing outlet that spread false information about the 2020 election and then settled a defamation lawsuit with two Georgia election workers it falsely accused of wrongdoing and admitted that there was no fraud in the election.
There's dozens of new right-wing groups posing as journalists covering the Pentagon. Every American should be concerned.
