Hi Friend,

This is the time of year where everyone is scrambling in the brief space between holidays. It's a crazy time, a busy time. It is also a time to reflect back [[link removed]] on the year that just passed and look forward to what will come in the year ahead.

It's in this head space that we approach the Readers and Writers Happy Hour [[link removed]] being held tonight at Metrobar at 6:00 pm. We are so grateful for our wonderful contributors and all that they do: They deserve a little recognition. So their first drink is on us! We hope you'll take the time [[link removed]] to come celebrate their work this year.

Note: Our standing happy hour on the 17th is cancelled! So this is the last happy hour of the year. If you're not feeling ready to throw in the social towel just yet, I have another suggestion: I need a few good volunteers to help Busayo and me stuff our holiday cards at our office in Navy Yard next Wednesday, December 10. If you are interested in helping out, read on below to find out how.

You can also help us reach our $12,000 goal before December 31st. Consider making an end-of-year donation here [[link removed]] . We appreciate your support, whatever that looks like!

Join us for a Holiday Card stuffing bonanza
We need your help! If you like pizza, and maybe listening to atypical holiday music (aka, not Santa Baby in three different configurations in a row, or at all), then we invite you to help us get out our holiday mail before the Postal Service gets weird. We'll meet at our office in Navy Yard 5:30pm–8:00pm on Wednesday, December 10. Interested in helping? Email Tricia [[email protected]?subject=I want to help with GGWash holiday cards!] .

Have a great event in the DMV that aligns with our focus on transportation, land use, and housing? Submit it to our calendar using this form [[link removed]] . Your event may end up in a future events post. Submissions may be edited for context and clarity, or denied should they fall too out of scope. Event posts go out generally every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month: please submit by the week before to be considered for inclusion in our events posts.
