Powering Aftyn Behn and Josh Weil’s colossal overperformances this year wasn’t just disapproval of the administration, it was their politics. Weil and Behn are economic populists who ran on platforms that included: fighting MAGA tooth and nail with no compromise, universal healthcare, and ending America’s blood soaked foreign policy. The age of running unrepentant former Republicans, right-wing Dems, and corporate funded AIPAC groupies that sell us out at the drop of a hat, is over. Having real values is what it takes to win in the world of 2025 and the voters won’t stop telling us this. If every House district in the country shifted left by the amount that Aftyn and Josh accomplished we would be looking at a blue wave so massive that it would blow 2018’s Democratic midterm sweep out of the water. This is why when Trisha Calvarese, a labor leader and unabashed populist, took on Boebert in 2024 she overperformed VP Harris by 6 points whereas Boebert trailed Trump in every district. She cut the margin in 2024 so dramatically that national observers now see CO-4 as a top-tier pickup opportunity.
