Some people see forests as a place to hike or camp. Others rely on them for their livelihoods. Still others, for food and fresh water.
The truth is, forests are indispensable to us all — regulating the climate, cleaning the air and providing countless other vital services for people and the planet. But this relationship can sour.
As we cut down and degrade forests worldwide, we aren’t just losing the many services they provide. Some forests are actually changing from assets into liabilities.
