I am writing to you because I am genuinely furious and profoundly ashamed of the voices currently representing this country and my state.

As a South Dakota veteran, I’m seeing the worst of two worlds. The moral failures coming out of the Administration are now both intentional and constant, and career politicians like Mike Rounds remain silent.

Look at the developments this week:

1. We see Kristi Noem using her national platform to call for a travel ban on entire countries full of "killers, leeches, and entitlement junkies." South Dakotans deserve better than cheap fearmongering designed to divide us.
2. We’ve learned that Pete Hegseth ordered "no survivors" in military actions in the Caribbean, prompting a follow-up strike explicitly targeting unarmed survivors. I spent 20 years learning and teaching the law of armed conflict. Killing unarmed survivors is both illegal and a moral failure.
3. We are learning about administration insiders with financial ties to Russian billionaires being involved in Ukraine "peace" deals, raising serious questions about who is truly benefiting from U.S. foreign policy. The American people or Donald Trump’s friends?

The public figures who claim to speak for our nation are actively breaking the laws they swore to uphold, all while enriching themselves and lining up at the trough. This is why Americans are exhausted.

Our campaign is about changing that voice. I care about the cost of groceries and health care, but I also care about the image we’re putting out to the world. We need to restore the simple idea that we are all created equal and no one is above the law.

I am running as an Independent because I will not be beholden to the party line that excuses this moral failure. I am prepared to be exhausted by the nation’s problems, so you don't have to be.
