Ours is an era of intensifying crisis—and radical ideas have never been so needed. Since 2007, we at PM Press have published almost 700 books about building a more just world. Unlike the well-funded right, the left lacks enduring institutions to foster and disseminate ideas.
Most left organizations founded over the last half century no longer exist. Those that have survived tend to have one thing in common: they own their building outright, giving them financial stability and protection from the caprices of the market.
Our vast 18,000 square foot warehouse in upstate New York is the bedrock of what we do. To celebrate our 20th year in 2027, we need to shore up this vital left institution—for the present and for the future—and we’re asking for your help.
At the start of 2027, interest payments on our mortgage will increase substantially. We would like to enlist your help in paying off our mortgage entirely to ensure this project’s future in these precarious times. And, fighting not just for bread but for roses too, once we fully own the means of distribution, we’ll adorn the building with a mural by N.O. Bonzo celebrating collective struggle.
