John , did you see Giles’ email about our HUGE opportunity this week to crush plastic pollution? For just 6 more days, every single pound you donate to our [People vs. Plastic Big Give Appeal <[link removed]>] will be immediately doubled until we hit our target. Can you help? [Yes, I'll give £20 - doubled to £40 <[link removed]>] [Yes, I'll give £30 - doubled to £60 <[link removed]>] [Yes, I'll give £50 - doubled to £100 <[link removed]>] [Yes, I'll give another amount - doubled! <[link removed]>] Before joining SAS, I worked in Marine Mammal Rescue - witnessing the entanglements, ingestions and poisonings that killed animals all the time. It was heartbreaking . Now I work with our Plastic Free Communities, I’m seeing waves of waste washing up on our shores, and it’s only getting worse. Whether it’s tiny plastic fragments, broken down from everyday items we all use, toxic bio-beads, or a block of polystyrene so big it wouldn’t even fit in someone’s car(!) - it’s horrifying what volunteers are left to clean up.

“ At times the sheer amount of plastic on a beach can sometimes shock people when they attend a beach clean.” Peter, Volunteer with Plastic Free Exmoor
But we can't beach-clean our way out of this. Our Plastic Free Communities are working flat out to reduce single use plastic at source where they live. But we need polluting brands and the UK government to do the same. This week, we have an incredible chance to boost our work to protect the waters we love from the world’s biggest polluters. To force our Government to commit to plastic reducing policies. To name and shame corporations who are claiming to cut plastic, but are actually greenwashing their way to getting filthy rich. If you missed Giles’ email, I really recommend having a read below to see why we’re so fired up about this one week opportunity, and if you can, [I’d be so grateful if you can chip in to help smash our £100k target >> <[link removed]>] Thank you so much for being with us, Emma O’Neill Communities Officer ( Plastic Free Communities) at Surfers Against Sewage One week to get DRASTIC on plastic [<[link removed]>] Dead fish. Choked birds. Plastic filling up our rivers, our seas - even our bloodstreams. John, this isn’t a rubbish accident. It’s a choice made for profit by politicians and mega-corporations, happy to flood our waterways with single use plastic , while telling us recycling and “eco” packaging can fix it all. Like you, we’ve had ENOUGH. So we've launched [The People vs. Plastic <[link removed]>] - to expose the worst offenders and push governments and big business to finally act. For the next 7 days, we have a HUGE opportunity to help fund this mission. For one week only, every single pound you donate will immediately be DOUBLED as part of the Big Give appeal. John , will you help? [Yes, I'll chip in <[link removed]>]
The fact is, we’ve got big enemies with deep pockets trying to stop us. Without action, plastic production is set to TRIPLE by 2060.
And that means Big Oil (yep, they make plastic 🙄) are set to get filthy rich, so they’re busy crushing this fight. We HAVE to get DRASTIC on plastic
John - for our waterways, our wildlife and our health. And we have just ONE WEEK to raise £100k to help fund our mission to cut plastic off at its source.
John, will you help? [Yes, I'll give £20 - doubled to £40 <[link removed]>] [Yes, I'll give £30 - doubled to £60 <[link removed]>] [Yes, I'll give £50 - doubled to £100 <[link removed]>] [Yes, I'll give my own amount - doubled! <[link removed]>]
As CEO of Surfers Against Sewage, I know our community is on the frontlines of the fight against plastic pollution. Week after week, you’re out on beaches picking up plastic waste in Million Mile Cleans. You’re working with local councils, businesses and schools to reduce plastic. You’re refilling and reusing. Doing your bit. So I know how angry you’re feeling too, John. Furious that the Global Plastics Treaty - what would’ve been an international, legally binding plan to end plastic pollution - collapsed this summer because of the fossil fuel industry’s shady dealings. Heartbroken when you see wildlife entangled in plastic or killed from consuming it.
Horrified when you hear that micro-plastics have now been found in our bloodstreams too. That’s why I’m so fired up for this Big Give Appeal. This is our chance to get the funding we need that could help us stand up to these profiting polluters - including the likes of Coca-Cola, Tesco, McDonald's. To put plastics firmly back in the headlines (whether corporations like it or not). But we urgently need your help - your donation could fund everything from litter pickers to clean our beaches, to shocking ads to reveal the big brand culprits and the promises our government has broken. If you’ve been thinking about donating to Surfers Against Sewage, this is the week to do it and make your money go twice as far. If you’ve had enough of big polluters destroying our waters, John, now is the time to act: [Donate NOW and see it DOUBLED <[link removed]>] Thank you so much for being part of the incredible community that won’t stand for this shit. No more greenwashing. No more lies. No more pointless plastic. Let’s do this. Giles Bristow CEO of Surfers Against Sewage P.S. With just 7 days to raise this game-changing pot of money and make sure we can claim every last penny of the matched-funding on offer, our team is going to be popping into your inbox a little bit more than usual. [Please stick with us, and please donate if you can >> <[link removed]>]
