John,
Last night, San Marcos proved again what Texans can do when we refuse to be silent.
A billion-dollar surveillance corporation came into our community expecting an easy, quiet renewal. A rubber stamp. Another contract slipped through the cracks that would track our families, store our data, and threaten immigrant residents.
But that’s not what happened.
Because our people organized and built the power to stop them.
City Council did not have the votes to renew the Flock Safety contract.
The contract is dead.
And here’s what it took to get there:
We worked around the clock — building a full rapid-response operation.
We crafted clear, strategic messaging and sourced real-time research so residents had accurate information.
We texted thousands of San Marcos residents so no one was left in the dark.
We built and launched a mass-email action tool that generated nearly 600 direct messages to City Council.
We pushed out nonstop virtual mobilization through email, social, and rapid updates to drive turnout and pressure.
We wrote scripts, testimony guides, and talking points so residents felt confident speaking truth to power.
We coordinated a strong coalition with Mano Amiga, local leaders, and national partners.
We pulled in national experts, including EFF and trusted researchers, who strengthened our case with technical analysis.
This is what movement infrastructure looks like.
This is what investing in local power creates.
This is what your support makes possible.
But here’s the truth:
We can’t do this kind of work without you.
Every text, every tool, every guide, every hour of rapid response, it all takes resources. And the fights ahead will be even bigger.
Can you donate $25, $50, $100 to make sure we can keep building this power across Texas?
San Marcos wasn’t a fluke.
It's a reminder that when we organize, we win.
Help us win the next one.
Juntos,
