📣 In the wealthiest country in the world, no one should ever go hungry. 📣 Yet, SNAP benefits — a lifeline for 42 million people including children, the elderly and people living with disabilities — were put in jeopardy, and the promise of food remains uncertain. “You may not ever be in this position. But if it was your own family in this position, would you want them to have to fight this hard just to eat a meal? To use up all their energy just to eat?” — Andrew Stories like these are difficult to hear, but they remind us why we need your support now. Andrew is a 62-year-old retiree, left with a disability after 40 years of driving trucks across the country. There are days when he walks miles for a hot meal from a soup kitchen. He walks in the summer months in the extreme Alabama heat. And he walks in the winter, when cold, dry air draws lines that form cracks on his exposed skin. His hunger is constant throughout. “It hurts like hell,” he said. “I’m dying for something to eat.” Without SNAP benefits, “I would starve,” he recounted. “I’ve ran out of tears. I can’t cry anymore. I’m just trying to survive.”
