Take Fleur. Just 11 months old, she had already known rejection. A spirited big dog with boundless energy and a heart full of love, she was overlooked again and again at Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC)—just another dog in a city full of dogs like her. PAWS Chicago pulled her to safety. With an experienced PAWS foster, Fleur finally had the chance to learn, play, and shine without the stress of a shelter cage. That second chance was everything: she was adopted into the loving home she deserved.

And then there are the kittens—Journey, Trip, Quest, and Odyssey. Only four days old, they were dumped at CACC with no nursing mother to keep them alive. The city shelter isn’t equipped for neonates. They had until 7 p.m. that night before their short lives would have ended. PAWS intake team rushed to save them, and a PAWS neonate foster opened their heart and home, taking on the task of bottle-feeding every two hours, keeping them warm, helping them with every task. Today, they are thriving—because help came just in time.
