As a midwife and global health advisor for Project HOPE, I've spent my career working alongside other midwives and health workers, from Syria to Gaza, helping them ensure that mothers and babies receive the care they need to survive and thrive.
This year, the situation is more urgent than ever. In Gaza, nearly 4 in 10 pregnant women we've screened are suffering from acute malnutrition. Across the world, too many mothers are still giving birth without skilled care, clean equipment, or even a safe place to deliver.
