Republicans running for governor outline their visions for Iowa
Feenstra was absent from a GOP forum for gubernatorial candidates in Ida County on November 24th. What makes the situation all the more embarrassing is that Ida County is in Feenstra’s own congressional district. It’s become a habit for the congressman to skip out on events, and it begs the question: Is Feenstra afraid of defending his record, meeting his constituents, or both? |

Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks (202) 225-6576
Does Mariannette Miller-Meeks support Trump’s efforts to dismantle the Department of Education? Trump’s Education Secretary Linda McMahon, former CEO of the WWE and an individual with no education experience of any kind, is attempting to break apart the DOE’s duties and hand them to other agencies. This will allow the Trump administration to destroy the DOE without officially ending it because cutting its transferred functions doesn’t require an act of Congress. Does Miller-Meeks stand with the students and children that rely on the DOE’s services, or does she support the politicians who want it gone?

Hey folks! Rita Hart here. |
Randy Feenstra is an enigma. Why is he running for Governor? Right now, his actions indicate that he is not ready to prove to Iowans that he’s the best candidate for the job. |
He didn’t attend a GOP gubernatorial forum in Ida County, which is part of the district he currently represents. Members of his own party called him out for not attending. He’s also declined an invitation to a GOP forum near his home in Sioux County. Feenstra seems confident that he’ll be able to avoid his GOP competitors forever. |
His tardiness will only become more visible as the primary debates approach, something Feenstra himself wouldn’t commit to attending. Iowa deserves a leader who relishes the opportunity to make his case, not one who doesn’t show up when he’s being challenged. If he doesn’t show up for a debate, then he won’t show up to fight for Iowans, either. |
Iowa Republicans are leaving working folks in the dust. It is getting harder and harder to make ends meet and Republicans are not doing anything to lower costs. Iowans deserve better. We need to elect leaders with good ideas and who appreciate the challenge of a good debate in front of the voters. To learn more about how you can get involved, visit iowademocrats.org.
