Dear John, [[link removed]]
At Rock the Vote, we focus on the challenges young people face right now: affordability, instability, uncertainty, and how we can help young voters advocate for themselves at the ballot box. Voting is essential to changing these systems, but it can’t solve the immediate crises affecting millions of young people this holiday season.
The numbers are stark:
4.2 million youth and young adults [[link removed]] experience homelessness each year. Nearly 1 in 4 young adults [[link removed]] have experienced food insecurity. Teens and emerging adults are the loneliest generation [[link removed]] with high rates of anxiety and depression.
These aren’t just statistics. They are barriers that prevent young people from fully participating in democracy and building stable futures.
Organizations making a difference:
988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline [[link removed]] : Provides a 24/7 support for young people facing mental health crises, emotional distress, or substance abuse. Those in need can call, text, or chat with a trained crisis counselor anytime.
National Runaway Safeline [[link removed]] : Provides 24/7 support to young people and families to keep runaway, homeless and at-risk youth safe and off the streets. Those in need can call, text, or chat with a trained crisis team member to listen and create a plan.
Your Local Food Bank [[link removed]] : Provides immediate support to young adults facing food insecurity in your community. Find one in your area and donate, volunteer, or organize a food drive.
How you can help today:
* Donate to one or more of these organizations
* Share this message to multiply your impact
* Volunteer locally
If we want young people to show up for democracy, we can show up for them this Giving Tuesday.
With gratitude,
Carolyn DeWitt and the team at Rock the Vote
